Santa Fe, New Mexico is certainly an inspiring place to visit. Here are a few highlights from my recent trip.

I love the soft, organic shapes of the adobe style buildings. The reddish tones contrast nicely with the blue-gray of the approaching storm.

Don’t miss the Georgia O’Keefe Museum if you’re visiting Santa Fe. There’s mega-inspiration inside these doors!

And there’s wonderful art out-of-doors too! Here’s Patricia Wyatt and her fantastic mixed media paintings. I love the way she paints the frame to go with the picture. Find out more about Patricia at PatricaWyatt.com.

Spring Moon is my favorite. The mountains look like stacks of fabric.

Enjoy creative southwest cooking at The Shed. Feast on fabulous food and eye candy too!

Here is a quilt from that exhibit. I think it’s a baby carrier, although I couldn’t find the accompanying documentation on who, when, where, why, etc. First People: the art in artifact will be on display through March 30, 2007.

Friday was another CBQ meeting. It featured Patt Blair, whose work you will probably recognize. She did the ink- and thread-painted ballerina quilt that was a finalist in The $1,000,000 Quilt Challenge magazine. I was thrilled to find out that the Tsukineko inks now come in metallic gold and silver. Patt encouraged everyone to participate in challenges, as it greatly stretches your abilities and helps you to grow quickly as a quilter, something that I can second wholeheartedly. I can already see my development in the few months I’ve been participating in the Fast Friday Fabric and the 12x12x12 challenges. Check back for my FFFC challenge piece shortly. I’m binding the last side and am nearly ready to post.

happy quilting!
