I think it was probably about 1990 that I went and it wasn’t really scary (but it was still a big adventure!) Reportedly there had not been any practicing cannibals in the area for over 40 years then.

I haven’t heard of neopets but will check it out. I am impressed with your mission trip to Irian Jaya. I read a missionary book in the early 1980s by someone who brought Christ to some tribes after spending 20 years there. Irian Jaya was a scary place then. When did you go?

I can easily spend hours on neopets and sudoku too. I’ve forgotten my neopets password, and apparently it was attached to an old email address so I now have more quilting time.
