wip wednesday #11

Still way into beading, I’m working on a beaded appliqué design for my March 12x12x12 project. I’m still using that bad batch of Wonder Under, which I really need to return. The paper doesn’t want to come off the back, shredding the appliqué edges. I was too impatient to leave it for days first. Luckily the beads cover the edges well, and I zig-zagged around the fabric first for extra protection before adding the beads.

  1. I have heard that you can put the bad wonder under in the freezer at some point in the process and it will help eliminate the problems. I have not come across bad wonder under, so I have not experimented. It might be worth a shot.

  2. Interesting fabric choice on this–I like it.

As for bad wonder-under, I don’t think I’ve ever found any that wasn’t bad! Bah, wonder-under, I don’t care what Melody Johnson says.

  3. I’m not a big fan of wonder under but prefer seam a seam 2.

BTW, I think you need to cut back on the caffeine!! LOL but I don’t think you have overdone the beading. with me, the more beads the better!!

    cute project

  4. I was in one of Melody’s classes at Road to California and some of the ladies had ‘bad’ WonderUnder… what you do is peel the stuff off the backing before you iron it and use a teflon pressing sheet over it (I don’t know if you have one or not, but you can get them at Joann’s or Michael’s and I think WalMart has them too)…works like a charm…
or you can just take it back – I took back about 10 yards of the stuff that was bad…

    Your beading is very nice!

  5. I love this series, too. I’m a big coffe person.

I have had problems with getting the backing off Wonder Under. I found if I spray a little water on it, it helps.

Thanks for your kind comments on my Feb. 12 x 3 challenge!
