My latest and greatest distraction is, yet another book project. It keeps me from my current quilts. It keeps me from my ever-increasing stack of UFOs. It keeps me from my housework. It keeps me from my sleep. It keeps me from my blog.

My ideas notebook is filled to overflowing with sketches and patterns, even a table of contents and sample chapter or two. When inspiration rains down, it does not sprinkle or trickle. It pours down in a torrential flash flood. The ideas flow much faster than I can (maybe will ever be able to) quilt. If there was a singular idea or two, I could create a magazine article. Most of the time, however, the designs group together in themes, like a set of sisters or best friends whom I can’t bear to separate from each other. But as a group, they are unfortunately too intimidating to handle. So eventually they are set aside for one reason or another, or a newer inspiration.

For now though, I am content in my current distraction. I enjoy the design process, and just maybe, this book will be the one I can see through to the end.
